A personal trainer feels like a luxury but it’s well worth the money to not have to go to a big box gym with crowds of people or to have to come up with my own workouts. I really like that it’s a small gym and that Brittany takes COVID precautions seriously so I feel safe working out there.  Having an appointment to meet someone also keeps me accountable since I paid the money and I don’t want to waste it.

Because my body likes to use the wrong muscles to get things done, I needed an observant trainer who would notice these compensations and make sure I use the correct muscles.  I’m very happy that Brittany can do that.  She corrected my form in an exercise that I’d done for years with another trainer that was actually putting my back at risk for injury.  Once we figured that out, I haven’t had any injuries since. The one time I did injure myself, she encouraged me to come in and do some gentle exercises to keep things moving that lessened my pain and helped me heal more quickly.  Bending over used to feel precarious but now I am stronger and don’t have to worry as much about hurting myself doing daily activities.

I think the most helpful thing she’s done is taking the time to dial back the exercises to retrain my nervous system, so I can unlearn the dysfunctional patterns that I’ve done for years and that kept me injuring myself inadvertently.  She also takes my POTS into consideration when designing the routines, giving me time to lay down if needed to get my heart rate under control and her dog Fuzz provides some emotional support/pet therapy.

Brittany’s style of training fits well with my personality because she’s more laid back so I never have to hear “Come on! 2 more!” or “Get it!”.  She’s funny and easy to talk to so I enjoy the social aspect as well.

As someone who can’t get to the gym or manage to workout at home because I find it so BORING, working out with Brittany has been the perfect fit because I get accountability and someone who comes up with customized workouts that fit MY “unique” body and is fun to be around.

I’m a 71-year-old man and deciding to train with Ms. Kelly at The Do Better Studio was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.  I started working with her over 2 years ago.  My balance is improving tremendously. My core strength has improved. I was seeing a chiropractor for my back about once a month. I haven’t needed to go back in well over a year. I hurt my shoulder which required physical therapy. My strength in my shoulder has improved tremendously.  I’m so pleased with the results of this training, that I convinced my wife and son to start training with Ms. Kelly.  They love it.  If you’re aging like I was, don’t give up hope.  If you can move, you can improve your health and strength with time and guidance.  The most important part of my life is being able to enjoy my grandchildren.  With Ms. Kelly’s help, I’m going to be able to do that for a long time to come.  My parting statement is from Ms. Kelly… If you don’t use it, you will lose it!  Hang in there and go see her at The Do Better Studio!

After turning 50 it seemed my body was done, just didn’t wanna work anymore.  My muscles and bones just seemed so tight and always ached. My hip and lower back were always in pain. After having my pity party, I reached out to Brittany. I asked her so many questions about why body is breaking down. I bet she felt like she was being interrogated. But there was no time during that long discussion over many conversations did I ever feel like I was too much! Brittanys knowledge about how our bodies work and why they are not working made me trust her.  The only thing she tried to sell me was convincing me my body was going to start feeling better with movement. And she did not disappoint. With the help of Brittany‘s mobility exercises and stretches I am able to move around and do things I have not been able to do for quite a long time. I am no longer feeling like an 80 year old! I am feeling absolutely wonderful!

When I started working out with Brittany three years ago, I was experiencing lower back pain and was about 30 lbs. overweight. I met Brittany at one of those “Box” gyms and I later heard she was opening her own studio.  I decided to leave the “Box” gym and continue to work with Brittany because of her professional work ethic, her knowledge about movement and mobility and of course her vivacious personality.  Brittany customized a program designed to build strength and flexibility to help me function more effectively on a day to day basis. I show up knowing that I am going to be challenged to the best of my abilities and I feel so much better when I leave. I now have the strength to lift heavy objects, my endurance has increased, and through all the core exercises my lower back pain has been greatly reduced.  My journey has been more than just fitness, but about wellness, strength, and mobility.

Brittany radiates such unique energy! I really marvel at her knowledge of not only the human body, but also our minds that control it. Brittany continues to help me celebrate the goals I’ve accomplished while motivating me to reach for new ones. She’s a bit addictive really!! Body positivity + humor + honesty + knowledge = A happier, healthier me!

Working with Brittany has legit changed my life. For over a decade, I had been trying to regain my fitness after shoulder surgery, but it never happened on my own and I kept injuring myself in an attempt to make quick gains. I had almost given up when Brittany entered my life. She had reinvigorated my love of the gym and I feel stronger now as a 42 year old man than I ever did at my “peak”. In the past 5 months, I’ve lost 20 lbs the right way and I know feel like I can reach goals I thought were in the rear view. She is phenomenal at what she does. She has created a personalized work out for me that appropriately pushes me to my limits and had corrected a lot of form issues that I never knew I had. I would suggest Brittany to everyone. She’s changed my life and I bet she could change yours as well.

“243. The number flashed on the scale, staring me right in my bewildered face. I stepped off the scale, tapped it with my big toe, and stepped back on. 243. From that moment on, I made myself a promise. I would change. I would take my insecurities and confront them head on. I would become athletic. Bolstered by this determination, I began the tedious process of vetting a gym and ended up joining Gold’s Gym.

I scheduled my free fitness assessment with someone named Brittany. Little did I know that this fitness assessment would be more than just assessing my then lack of physicality. It would be the foundation and formation of a friendship and mutual support system. We clicked instantly. Brittany possessed the right amount of sass and drive to whip me into shape and encourage me every step of the way. Immediately after the assessment I signed up for three months of personal training, twice a week with Brittany. Fast-forward nine months later. I was strong. I was confident. I was athletic. Brittany had completely changed my life for the best. I was at my gym 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day before and after work, taking boot camp classes, swimming, lifting, and doing yoga. Brittany had taught me that physical fitness was more than just lifting weights, it was nutrition, it was mental health, it was finding an inner balance. She taught me that fitness is a journey, with twists and turns along the way. That we have good days and bad, and we can assess each as it comes and not stray from the goals ahead. She helped me realize my potential and pushed me to meet it. The moment I met Brittany my life changed. Through her friendship, she helped me discover that I could do anything I set my mind to. Your dreams only work if you do, so it’s time to keep working.”
